Motivation 101

"Reinvent yourself.  Think big.  You have the power to live
the life you want.  Ask us how
"  Your Weekly StressTip

How do you feel and what do you think about when you hear
and see the word "motivation?"

Do you block and freeze both mentally and physically?

Are you a procrastinator?

Here a few ideas that may help you get motivated.

  • Just do it.  Yes, you've heard and seen this Nike phrase before.
    Have you just done it?

  • Know what/who is stopping you from engaging and getting what
you want.  Is it you, your attitude, your boss, your significant other?

  • Let your self be.  Accepting your self is the first step to finding,
recreating and engaging with others in your life.

Now that is motivating, don't you agree?

Daniel Pink in his new book Drive maintains that what motivates
us is autonomy, mastery and purpose.

Meet the Best ~ 26: Mark Goulston

"Accept and appreciate - with gratitude - your emotional feelings
without acting on them.  Ask us how"
      Your Weekly StressTip

What would your life be like if you had a personal mentor to guide you
on a daily, weekly and monthly basis -- on information products of
    your choosing?

Certainly your life is worth investing in yourself.

Here is a mentor who has recently touched our lives and we are pleased
to share him with you in this entry of Meet the Best.

Introducing with appreciation and gratitude this month's "meet the best"
    mentor Mark Goulston.

Mark Goulston came into our lives when we wanted to learn more about
how-to approach unreachable people in every aspect of our life.

Just Listen: Discover the Secret to Getting Through to Absolutely Anyone
is a book about turning any situation to your advantage with less distress.

Here are few excerpts for your consideration...

"Stress...causes us to focus, become determined, and test our mettle.  It's
when stress crosses over into distress that we lose sight of our...long-term
goals and...look for what will relieve us now.  ...to reach people in...distress,
adding to their stress can be disastrous." [p. 70]

"When you give a distressed person breathing room -- a place and space to
exhale -- you don't just get the situation back to normal.  You actually
improve on it.  That's because in addition to getting a person to calm down,
you build a mental bridge the person and yourself.  And when you build that
bridge, you can communicate across it." [p. 72]

"When you're cornered and everything inside you makes you feel like baring
your teeth, reach deeper into yourself, feel your fear, and bear your neck
instead.  ...tell them the truth.  ..."I'm scared" or "I made a mistake."" [p. 93]
