Is Stress Okay?

"Being authentic and reaching for opportunities that are you
by finding your purpose in life and sharing it with others is
worth being and worth doing
" Your Weekly StressTip

Until recently, stress has been thought of as being unhealthy
and to be avoided.

Did you know that we need stress to live?

Depending on how it is used, stress can be a friend or a foe.
Stress can be helpful or it can be harmful.  Dr. Hans Selye,
the father of stress research, defines stress as "essentially
the rate of wear and tear caused by life."  In his classic book,
The Stress of Life (McGraw-Hill 2nd edition 1978) he considers
the reasons behind many human ailments.

According to Selye, "Stress is pleasant and unpleasant.  Don't
try to avoid it-- you can't. ..."

"On the road to mediocrity

Along the way, we settle.

We settle for something not quite right, or an outfit that isn't our best look,
or a job that doesn't quite maximize our talents. We settle for relationships
that don't give us joy, or a website that's, "good enough."

The only way to get mediocre is one step at a time.

You don't have to settle. It's a choice you get to make every day"

What is Stress?

"Sharing is caring.  At one time or another we've all heard this growing
up; and yet, only some of us do share.  Are you willing to share?  Since
we get to know each other by the stories we hear, read, and tell -- are
you willing to share your story?
"
Your Weekly StressTip

A general statement about what stress is and what stress is not,
as well as a need to 'personal awareness' of the various situations
that create distress.

We all need stress to live.  According to Hans Selye, M.D., "Stress
is not something to be avoided."  It is a "response of the body to
any demand made upon it."

Since stress is a body response, we only know that we are stressed,
or more correctly in distress or eustress, when our body tells us.

Personal awareness of our stress indicators (symptoms) and stressors
(causes) is the first step for proactive responsive action.

"Ruby slippers

If you could make one thing come true that would change
everything for your project, do you know what the one
thing would be?

One breakthrough client, one technical advance, one
testimonial? One achievable change in the world?

For Google, the one thing was a big thing, "we need to be
the place people come to search." But for many sites, many
companies, there isn't a thing. They can't articulate it. They
have no wish. If you have no wish, how can it possibly come
true?"

"You're boring.

Sorry, someone had to say it.

Your products are predictable. Your insights are recycled.
You don't bring surprise with you when you enter a room.

That's why people are ignoring you.

Which used to be fine, because you could just buy attention
for your brand or your company or your sales efforts. But
that half-price sale on attention is now over.

The only path left is to lean out of the edge and become
interesting, noteworthy and yes, remarkable."

"Making connections for effective social networking online
and offline are both daunting and exhilarating experiences.
Everything you do and say must to be built on trust."
Your Weekly StressTip

Here is a mentor who has recently touched our lives and we are
pleased to share him with you in this entry of Meet the Best.

Introducing with appreciation and gratitude this month's "meet
the best" mentor Michael A. Stelzner.

Michael A. Stelzner came into our lives when we wanted to
learn more about Writing White Papers with less distress.

Writing White Papers: How To Capture Readers and
Keep Them Engaged
, is a "how-to" guide for writing and
marketing using white papers in today's world.

Here are few excerpts for your consideration...

"Why White Papers Matter  White Papers help people make
decisions.  Those decisions range from closing a deal to picking
up the phone and initiating contact.  White papers are also
commonly used to help justify a purchase decision.  ...White
papers can be a very pervasive marketing tool.  ..." [p. 5}

"Researching  Research is an important process that can
significantly enhance the strength of your white paper and is
not as difficult as you might think.  According to a comprehensive
study of the white paper writing process, most white paper writers
think research is relatively easy.
...http://www.whitepapersource.com/report" [p. 51]

"Why Generic Solutions Matter  Finding solutions to challenges
is the main reason people seek white papers.  Most...do present
solutions.  However, many immediately...speak of their particular
product or service details.
An alternative approach is to perform an opening...with a generic,
high-level description.  ..." [p. 98]

Here is this week's "position statement" for your consideration and response...

"Marketing tells a story that spreads.
Sales overcomes the natural resistance to say yes.

If you don't pay the salesforce (because you go direct, or you go free),
then who is going to do that for you? The only answer that occurs to
me is, "your users/fans/customers."

This means that a critical element of any strategy that ditches the sales-
force is to figure out how you will empower and encourage your customers
to take their place. Easier said than done."
- Seth Godin
